JULIAN BONEQUI (México, 1974). Artista híbrido y compositor XR que trabaja con sonido 3D, inmersión sónica y narrativa liminal.
Julian Bonequi comenzó su carrera como percusionista e improvisador, interesado en la ciencia ficción, el Arte Transmedia y las narrativas probabilísticas asociadas a escenarios musicales no humanos y el chamanismo mientras estudiaba Filosofía en la UNAM. Tras finalizar estudios de especialización en Diseño de Videojuegos y Animación 3D, colaboró con Grupos de Tecnologías Interactivas y de Neurociencias, además de artista invitado con orquestas y conjuntos en Madrid, Londres, Berlín y México. Desde entonces, su interés como tecnólogo y compositor evolucionó mediante la hibridación de conceptos e ideas para partituras interactivas de realidad extendida, autómatas codificados y narrativa liminal. Sus trabajos se centran en la creación de interfaces cotidianas que nos ayudan a pensar a través de nuestros cuerpos mientras canalizan la 'cognición hápticamente incorporada' y las estrategias constructivas experimentales para mejorar la realidad a través de la interacción XR como prácticas lúdicas participativas, así como para desarrollar el intercambio y la comprensión comprensivos. a la concienciación sobre el clima al mismo tiempo que esboza posibles conocimientos alternativos.
Como fundador de Audition Records [Berlín-México 2010], Bonequi ha publicado una importante colección de arte experimental con más de 130 lanzamientos internacionales y ha producido series como curador invitado en colaboración con Salon Bruit Berlin, Akouphène Festival de Ginebra, Museo Ex Teresa Arte Actual y CCDRadio en el Centro de Cultura Digital de México. Como profesor ha impartido New Media Art en la Ciudad de México y cursos de Maestría en animación en la Universidad Pompeu Fabra y la Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, así como talleres de Inmersión Sónica 3D para Realidad Virtual en el Centro Mexicano de la Música y las Artes Sónicas (CMMAS). ). En este último colaboró en grupos de investigación sobre tecnologías interactivas y neurociencia para exposiciones y juegos educativos. Ganador del concurso 'Composición interactiva' de Konzerthaus Berlín como artista de realidad virtual y diseñador de interacción en 2019; CTM Radio Lab Berlín 2017; Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte FONCA 2017-2020; Programa de Apoyo a la Producción e Investigación en Arte y Medios, México 2016; Artista por encargo del Laboratorio de Inmersión CCD-Fundación BBVA para su edición 2018. Como músico, trabajando con la canalización de trance vocal, se ha presentado extensamente en México y Europa. En 2015 su música fue lanzada al espacio. Bonequi actualmente desarrolla interfaces interactivas para su proyecto de Teatro Holofrénico.

Julian Bonequi began his career as a percussionist and improviser, interested in science fiction, transmedia art and probabilistic narratives associated with non-human musical scenarios and shamanism while studying Philosophy at UNAM. After finishing specialized studies in Video Game Design and 3D Animation, he collaborated with Interactive Technology Groups and of Neuroscience, as well as guest performer with orchestras and ensembles in Madrid, London, Berlin and Mexico. Since then, his interest as technologist and composer evolved by hybridizing concepts and ideas for interactive extended reality scores, coded automatons and liminal narratology. His works are focused in the creation of day to day interfaces that help us think through our bodies while channeling ‘haptically embodied cognition’ and experimental constructive strategies to improve reality through XR interaction as participatory playful practices, as well as to develop sympathetic exchange and understanding to climate awareness while outlining alternative possible knowledge.
As founder of Audition Records [Berlin-Mexico 2010], Bonequi has published an important experimental art collection with more than 130 international releases and produced series as guest curator in collaboration of Salon Bruit Berlin, Akouphène Festival of Geneva, Ex Teresa Arte Actual Museum and CCDRadio at the Centre of Digital Culture in Mexico. As professor has taught New Media Art in Mexico City and Masters-level animation courses at the Pompeu Fabra University and the Polytechnic University of Valencia, as well as workshops of 3D Sonic Immersion for Virtual Reality at the Mexican Center for Music and Sonic Arts (CMMAS). At the latter he collaborated in research groups about interactive technologies and neuroscience for educational exhibitions and games. Winner of the Konzerthaus Berlin 'Interacive Composition' competition as VR Artist & Interaction Designer in 2019; CTM Radio Lab Berlin 2017; National System of Art Creators FONCA 2017-2020; Support Program for Production and Research in Art and Media, Mexico 2016; Commissioned Artist of the Immersion Lab CCD-BBVA Foundation for its 2018 edition. As musician - working with vocal trance channeling - has performed extensively in Mexico and Europe. In 2015 his music was launched into space. Bonequi currently develops interactive interfaces for his Holophrenic Theater project.

EXPERIMENTAL MUSIC PERFORMANCES *Highlights
Improviser and composer over the last 25 years connected to experimental, contemporary and electroacoustic music
scene. Bonequi has performed at international festivals, museums and concert venues in Mexico and Europe mainly,
in cities as Berlin, Paris, Geneva, Vilnius, Istanbul, Vienna, Leipzig, London, Brussels, Barcelona and Madrid. He has
performed extensively in orchestras as the FOCO Orchestra of Madrid under the conduction of William Parker,
Michael Fischer (Vienna Improvisers Orchestra), Keith Tippett, Eddie Prévost, the London Improvisers Orchestra, the
Berlin Improvisers Orchestra and Alexander von Schlippenbach, and with artists like Gudrun Gut and Joachim Irmler,
Vagina Dentata Organ, Ute Wassermann, Audrey Chen, Gebrüder Teichmann, Tristan Honsinger, Joke Lanz and
Paal Nilssen-Love. He has an extensive discography in digital format, cassette, CD and vinyl with publications in
Israel, France, Germany, Istanbul, Australia, Barcelona and Mexico, and currently is devoted to his work as a XR
composer and hybrid artist and exclusively produces works of a hybrid interactive nature for New Media, 3D Sound,
and Mixed Reality Performances.
